History and Background

UPDATE November 2014: The LadyBug is taking a break from performing while we take care of some personal business. Be back soon!

Ladybug is the oldest surviving live theater in the Portland area. We have been producing our own theatrical creations for children and families since 1965. We began in a ladybug shaped building at the Washington Park Zoo (now Oregon Zoo), where we remained for 20 years. A fire and other structural damage ended this era.

Several moves and many years later we now enjoy tremendous support and recognition in the Sellwood-Moreland neighborhood and do our Wednesday shows at Smile Station, 8210 SE 13th, Portland (1 block south of Tacoma St.).

Ladybug produces live, improvisational style theater with audience participation. Children love to be included in this positive and creative process. Ages of our audience and actors range from 2 to 100 years old. We are an experience for the whole family. Check out classes and show dates for more information.
